Recently, Canon has entered into a referral partnership with eReco EMEA Corporation Limited for the provision of a Toner Bottle Recycling Service in order to support our customers in their quest to recycle waste.  Canon is the first print manufacturer to take advantage of eReco's toner bottle recycling service in a scheme which ensures that 100% of the used materials will never be put into landfill.

Through the partnership, Canon customers with multi-functional devices who wish to recycle their toner bottles should contact eReco who will supply special bags to gather the recyclable materials.  The bottles are collected by eReco or a third party partner and recycled in the UK.  The toner, plastic and metals are streamed for specialist recycling and are recovered and reused to manufacture a range of different products.

This new service is designed to:

• Support our customers’ environmental objectives

• Reduce the bulk of customer general waste and thus reduce associated costs 

• Provide reports that can support customers' ISO14001 accreditation or EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) approval

• Provide a single point of contact at eReco for toner bottle recycling, managing the complete process on the customer’s behalf

• Collect ALL manufacturer toner bottle and cartridges so there is no need for multiple schemes

Canon's partnership with eReco supports its corporate philosophy of Kyosei and further supports Canon's global certification to ISO14001.  

In the same way that any disposal of waste incurs a cost, the service is currently chargeable at a rate of £30 per bag plus VAT.   Materials recovered in the process are used to manufacture a variety of products including washing machine parts, traffic cones, building materials, fire alarm casings and games consoles - products which may, in turn, be recycled at the end of their own lifecycle.
