Cartridge Recycling

Canon Cartridge Recycling
Canon's corporate philosophy of Kyosei seeks to attune all Canon's business undertakings to the protection of our planet and its treasure trove of resources. Kyosei stands for living and working together for the common good, a rationale of equality, that believes everyone should be able to enjoy earth's bounties. Only when we take on our social and ecological responsibilities, locally and world-wide, do we fulfil the role and expectations of a truly global corporation.

Actions speak louder than words

The improvement of our products should in no way be at the sacrifice of our environment. The overwhelming success of the replaceable cartridge system, incorporated in our fax, printing and copying machines, prompted us to put our words into actions.

In 1990 a scheme was devised to drastically reduce the burden on the environment of the increasing amount of used cartridges. Successful collection trials in Europe, Japan and the USA resulted in the creation of the world's first recycling plant at Canon Dalian, China. By 1997 Canon cartridge collection had developed to include 21 countries. The effectiveness of the scheme was greatly improved by the expansion from one global operation plant in China to three recycling plants across the world, servicing countries at a regional level.

Convenient collection scheme- minimum effort required

Canon operates three different collection methods. Customers can choose between returning the cartridges by mail, saving them up in designated collection boxes or handing them over to their local dealer. Cartridges, including packaging, are collected together at national points. The cartridges are then forwarded to Canon Bretagne, the facility responsible for recycling for the whole of Europe.

Process for returning your cartridges by mail

As part of our convenient cartridge return scheme, customers can mail empty cartridges to Canon free of charge.

You can log-in to an e-return page to create your own free postal label. The label will also require information regarding your Canon cartridge, which can be easily found on any Canon products. Once the label is printed and attached to your cartridge it is ready to mail. Click here to register to create the label.
