Comment from a Canon UK employee.
Canon's philosophy "Kyosei" means 'living and working together for the common good' and this is reflected in the way in which we work on a day to day basis. Our six core values depict the essence of how we think as a company and what we believe
in. Learning and teaching - All of us have something to teach others, so working together and sharing our knowledge and experience allows us all to learn more and improve ourselves. We work hard at
avoiding a blame culture and instead create a positive environment where feedback is welcomed and people are encouraged to try new and innovative approaches. Continuous improvement - Whether its by setting ourselves challenging targets, or by simply trying to better our best performance in small ways in our daily working life, we are committed to continually
improving standards. We don't become complacent or lazy because with this attitude comes a sense of pride in our work as well as unlimited opportunities for self development. Openness, trust, honesty, integrity - Honesty is non-negotiable. We believe in openness in all our dealings, and that means telling bad news just as openly as the good. We make no apology for this lack of
compromise because our integrity is the reason that Canon is trusted the world over. Facing reality - Our open approach includes being honest with ourselves. We analyse and appraise problems but we never ignore them. In our experience problems do not solve themselves so we address
issues head on. Without trying to deny their existence, we set about finding the solution. Participation then commitment - When it comes to discussions everyone has something of value to offer, so everyone is encouraged to participate by contributing ideas and suggestions. Of course we all
have different points of view, so when the consultative process is over, we respect the final decision and give our full commitment to it. Pride in and recognition of achievement - We take pride in our achievements as a company and as individuals. This helps to put our underlying goal - to achieve a good level of profitability and sell
our share of production - within reach. By maintaining a can do attitude we have created a culture that nurtures and celebrates success.
