United Kingdom / Republic of Ireland, 26 August, 2008: Canon announces the MF9170 and MF9130, two new A4 colour laser Multifunctionals designed for demanding small office use. Combining high quality colour printing, scanning and copying – with additional fax functionality also available on the MF9170 – these models inherit many of the advanced colour imaging technologies found in Canon’s high-end imaging devices. This allows them to offer a unique combination of superb quality, highly efficient productivity, and a new level of usability – all packaged in a convenient, desktop-sized unit.

Pricing & Availability

The i-SENSYS MF9170 is priced at £1949.00 / €2529.53 RRP inc. VAT.

The i-SENSYS MF9130 is priced at £1719.00 / €2231.02 RRP inc. VAT.

Both are available from November 2008.

Superior colour imaging

The MF9170 and MF9130 models bring a new level of colour output quality to desktop laser printing. Superior standards are possible because both models incorporate several advanced technologies originally developed for Canon’s high-end imaging devices: such as Pure Black technology, Real-Time ACS (Auto Color Select), a Super Toric lens, and Dual Direct Mapping technology.

Both the MF9170 and MF9130 deliver high quality colour scans, copies and prints that are characterised by superb colour images and graphics, sharp fine text, and unrivalled colour consistency and accuracy – even when handling conventionally difficult images, such as those featuring skin tones and nuanced, shaded areas.

Exceptional performance and time saving

Both models combine quality with speed. A 4D in-line print engine produces colour and mono prints and copies at high speed: up to 21 ppm/cpm. In addition, First Copy Out Time is approximately 12.5 seconds. Canon’s Quick First-Print technologies, including Canon’s On-Demand Fixing technology, ensure zero
warm-up time with no waiting, even when activating either Multifunctional from sleep mode.

Ease of use

An intuitive graphical interface makes navigating menus simple and quick. To aid setup and troubleshooting, graphical wizards help users get started and resolve any issues that may arise.

Enhanced workflow

With SEND functionality and Compact PDF, the MF9170 and MF9130 are also fully featured communication hubs, allowing convenient digital sharing of high quality documents. Canon’s Compact PDF technology uses a process of object segmentation to produce high quality PDF documents that are up to 1/20th the size of the original. Users can scan colour documents direct to email, network server (SMB and FTP), or to USB memory key.

Connectivity and durability for the workgroup

With PCL 5c and PCL 6 support, either of these models can be easily integrated into existing printing environments that require PCL compatibility. A stylish and robust design, an 850-sheet maximum paper capacity, and 512 MB of shared memory ensure that the MF9170 and MF9130 can manage the demands of even the busiest small workgroups. A Remote User Interface makes remote administration easy; the DEPT ID management function provides added security in open access environments.

Efficient and economical

All consumable parts are contained in four, easy-to-change colour cartridges – every time a new cartridge is inserted, the vital components most prone to wear and tear are also renewed. This ensures continuous high quality output and also reduces maintenance requirements. Colour Cartridge 711 has an impressive page yield of 6000 pages[2] per colour. Both MF9170 and MF9130 are EnergyStar certified with low Typical Energy Consumptions of just 3.1 KWh.
