While the XEED WUX10 forms an all-new addition to the XEED range, the XEED SX80 succeeds the popular XEED SX60 with a range of modifications and new features. Both models are ideal for use in boardrooms and conference centres, as well as specialist applications such as CAD, simulation and medical environments. Other possibilities include lecture theatres, sports and media bars, and professional photo applications. “The XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 represent a new chapter for the XEED range and the projection industry,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “Both models push the boundaries of portable projection, while retaining the XEED hallmark of exceptional visual quality.” Pricing & Availability
The XEED SX80 will be available from the end of June 2008 for £2949.00/€ 3827 RRP inc VAT.
The XEED WUX10 will be available from November 2008. Price to be confirmed. To harness the best of both DLP and LCD projectors, the XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 employ LCOS panel technology. Designed in-house by Canon for optimum performance with other projector components, these panels overcome conventional projection setbacks – seamlessly reproducing fine detail with no unwanted ‘lattice’ or ‘rainbow’ effects. LCOS performance is optimised by Canon AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System). This unique optical array maximises light path efficiency, delivering two key advantages: outstanding brightness levels of 3200 lumens (XEED WUX10) and 3000 lumens (XEED SX80), and contrast ratios of 1000:1 and 900:1 respectively. This ensures projection images that cut through high levels of ambient light, while reproducing every subtle gradation in source images – with deep blacks and vivid colours. Resolution for the future
With respective resolutions of WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) and SXGA+ (1400 x 1050 pixels), the XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 offer sufficient levels of detail for specialist applications such as CAD, simulation and medical imaging. Fine lines are rendered with pin-sharp accuracy, text remains legible at smaller font sizes, and multiple windows can be displayed with no reduction in clarity. The XEED WUX10 also allows projection from the latest high-resolution 16:10 aspect ratio PCs, without compression or panning of the desktop image. Both models anticipate the continued rise of High Definition content with HD capabilities. The HD ready XEED SX80 displays highly detailed moving images from HD sources in 720p format without compression, while – for the ultimate visual impact – the XEED WUX10 displays stunning Full 1080p High Definition video. Canon lens know-how
For flexible placement, both projectors feature a Canon 1.5x powered zoom lens. Utilising more than 70 years of Canon optical expertise, this lens has been specially designed to eliminate distortion and offer perfect geometry across the entire image. The 10:0 lens offset enables easy setup, by aligning the lower edge of the projected image with the optical axis (lens centre) – reducing the need for keystone correction. Connect to more
To maximise options for creative presenting, the XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 feature a full range of digital and analogue connections. DVI and HDMITM terminals enable direct connection to high-definition digital sources such as personal computers and Blu-ray™ Disc players; for playback of commercial video material, HDCP encryption is also supported. For use in professional AV systems, both models include an onboard RJ-45 terminal, which allows direct connection to an Ethernet network. In addition, the XEED SX80 offers USB connectivity to flash drives and PictBridge-compatible digital cameras. This ‘PC-Free Presentation’ option is perfect for spontaneous presentations or situations where carrying a computer is impractical. Quiet, Convenient and Easy to Use
Designed to integrate seamlessly into the workflow of busy professionals, the XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 combine compact, lightweight construction with near-silent operation – in Quiet Mode, both models operate at a whisper-quiet 31dBA, ensuring that audiences won’t be distracted by fan noise. Quiet Mode also extends lamp lifetime up to a maximum of 3000 hours. For added convenience, both projectors offer automatic set-up of all key settings: Focus, Keystone Correction, Input Selection and Screen Colour Correction can all be optimised at the touch of a button. When mounted with the optional Canon ceiling bracket, basic maintenance – such as lamp changes – can be performed without removing the projector.
