Canon launches eco-friendly A4 colour printer

REIGATE, October 1st, 2008 – Canon UK, world leader in imaging solutions, has today launched the Canon iR C1021i, a new environmentally-friendly, cost-effective A4 colour multifunctional device for workgroups in corporate and small to medium-sized offices.

  • New, environmentally friendly device uses 1.2 watts in standby – a first among printers in this segment

  • The Canon iR C1021i delivers high-quality A4 business printing at competitive prices

  • Collaboration tools allow workgroups to efficiently share files, boosting worker productivity

The Canon iR C1021i offers a range of features that not only benefit a company’s bottom line, but help reduce environmental impact at the same time. When switched on, the printer is ready to use in just 60 seconds. And when on standby, it uses just 1.2 watts – a first amongst printers in this segment – helping to reduce energy consumption.

Enabling users to print, copy, scan and distribute documents in black-and-white and colour, the Canon iR C1021i is a powerful, yet compact device providing high-quality imaging for small workgroups and corporate environments.

The device offers effective cost control with innovative features such as Auto Colour Sensing technology, which detects pages within a document that contain colour. This allows users to keep costs down by printing in black-and-white as standard, and only printing in colour when it is detected.

The Canon iR C1021i produces crisp text and superior colours, with high quality print output of 2,400 equivalent x 600dpi. The new device helps to boost efficiency and time-saving in the office with fast print speeds of 21 pages per minute in both black-and-white and colour and the output of the first page of a job in a minimum time of just 12.5 seconds. A sturdy document feeder and a paper supply of up to 850 sheets ensure sizeable print runs can be comfortably accommodated. A large 3.5 inch colour User Interface with an Easy-scroll wheel allows effortless control at all times.

The Canon iR C1021i offers powerful options for sharing files, which are designed to enhance collaboration in the office. The Canon iSend facility, which comes as standard, allows users to share information quickly and easily either by sending files directly by e-mail or fax or alternatively by saving to USB, the desktop, FTP or file server.

The new device can be easily configured with uniFLOW Output Manager, which offers advanced document management features such as Secure Printing through user-authentication for print output, and cost control through Print Accounting that enables companies to track usage and costs of the printer. Document management software also helps reduce the amount of paper wastage as print jobs are only released when the user visits the device, minimising unnecessary printing.

Tracey Fielden, Head of Office Marketing, Canon UK, said: “When the economic outlook is uncertain, companies need to have a tight control over their print costs. The Canon iR C1021i is designed to deliver A4 business printing at a very competitive price – offering different features that are not only beneficial to a company’s bottom line, but also work to reduce its impact on the environment.”

The Canon iR C1021i will be available in the UK & Ireland during October 2008.
