Windows, Mac & Linux software introduced to key Canon imageFORMULA scanners

LONDON, 31 March 2010. Canon UK, world leader in imaging solutions, today announced it has released new scanner drivers for the latest Microsoft, Apple Macintosh and Linux driver software, to enable its imageFORMULA scanner range to function across all main PC operating systems.

  • Canon’s imageFORMULA scanners are all now compatible with Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system

  • Additionally, Canon’s imageFORMULA DR-2010M and DR-2510M Mac-compatible scanners are now supported on new Snow Leopard operating system

  • Canon also releases Linux drivers to support imageFORMULA P-150, DR-2010C & DR-2510C

Microsoft’s new Windows 7 platform, launched in October 2009, has already been widely adopted around the world due to its simplicity and flexibility. To cater for this rapidly expanding market, Canon now has Windows 7 drivers available for download for their full range of imageFORMULA scanners.

Launched in September 2009, the Canon imageFORMULA DR-2010M and DR-2510M were unveiled as Canon’s first Apple Macintosh-compatible business scanning devices. Both of the compact, stylish devices now fully support the new Mac OS X V10.6 (Snow Leopard) operating system to improve performance and efficiency. This is also available to download for existing customers.

For organisations preferring to develop their own unique solutions with open source architecture, Linux drivers are now available for Canon’s revolutionary P-150 portable scanner and the ultra compact DR-2010C and DR-2510C workgroup scanners. The drivers are compatible with SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) to provide standardised communication access between the scanners and the Linux environment.

Trevor Dodsworth, Head of Product Marketing, Canon Business Solutions, Canon UK, says,
“Simplifying the way organisations handle documents is crucial in today’s business environment to ensure the user experience is as easy and productive as possible. With many organisations investing in the latest PC software on the market - such as Windows 7 and Snow Leopard - Canon has adapted its leading document scanning devices to support these operating system advances. Our goal is to ensure our range of scanners allows users to process information effectively, irrespective of what operating system they may use, and we will continue to ensure maximum compatibility across our broad range of scanning devices in the future.”

The drivers are available now as a download for existing users. For further information please visit http://software.canon-europe.com.
