Advanced functionality for the small and home office with Canon’s new All-In-One printers: PIXMA MX870, PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340

PIXMA MX870 United Kingdom/Republic of Ireland, 1st February 2010 – Canon today announced the launch of three stylish new All-In-One printers for the small office / home office working environment; the PIXMA MX870, PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340. With Print, Scan, Copy and Fax functionality, the devices feature improved print & copy speeds, Wi-Fi connectivity and a fully integrated Auto Document Feeder, as well as Canon’s FINE printing technology - ideal for printing documents, web pages and photos.

The inclusion of Wi-Fi connectivity in all three models means that one printer can be accessed by a number of PCs and users can print and scan wirelessly from almost anywhere in the home or office. Super G3 fax transmits A4 documents in as little as three seconds per page[1]. The PIXMA MX870, PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 allows users to save faxes to internal memory and then store to a USB key as PDF. This is a very useful feature if either your ink or paper has run out.

Canon supports the industry-wide ISO productivity speed standard to calculate print and copy speeds accurately. This helps consumers to make true like-for-like comparisons when looking at different models. All three printers offer exceptional print quality at improved speeds: the PIXMA MX870 has an ISO ESAT[2] speed of approximately 9.4/6.1 ipm Mono / Colour and the PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 have approximately 8.4/4.8 ipm. Copy speeds have also been increased by up to approximately 50% for PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 compared to the previous models.  All the models also feature a fully integrated Auto Document Feeder (ADF) that enables users to scan, copy and fax documents quickly, with PIXMA MX870 supporting automatic duplex (two-sided) scanning and copying as well.

The PIXMA MX870, PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 incorporate advanced ‘Quick Start’ technology which means that operation is almost instantaneous from the moment the power is switched on.

Easy-to-use functionality
All the models also feature a new and improved user interface. The redesigned operation panel offers a clear layout of functions from left to right, giving easy access by grouping keys by function. The PIXMA MX870 and PIXMA MX350 also feature 6.2cm TFT displays, offering a clear view of images and menus.

The scan to compact PDF function saves files that are up to 90% smaller than previous models, making them more usable and easy to e-mail, whilst still searchable by keyword. The new Auto Document Fix delivers beautiful and easy-to-view scans automatically by using advanced image analysis and area-by-area data correction.

PIXMA MX870 offers automatic double-sided (duplex) printing as standard, while the PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 offer this as a manual function.  The PIXMA MX870 offers two paper feeders for improved convenience, and individually replaceable ink tanks, minimising ink wastage.

Advanced software solutions
The PIXMA MX870, PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 come with advanced software solutions including Easy-WebPrint EX for smart, yet simple web printing and MP Navigator EX for scanning and editing of documents and photos.

Photolab-quality printing with advanced technologies
As the PIXMA MX870, PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 are primarily designed for office and home use, they are optimised for both document and photo printing thanks to Canon’s FINE technology. PIXMA MX350 and PIXMA MX340 print at 4,800 x 1,200 dpi with minimum 2pl ink droplets, while PIXMA MX870 has a higher resolution of 9,600 x 2,400 dpi with minimum 1pl ink droplets. The new models are part of the ChromaLife 100+ system, which works by combining Canon’s FINE technology with Canon genuine photo paper and genuine Canon inks, to provide long-lasting, beautiful photos.

The new models also allow the user to print without needing to switch on the PC or Mac. It is easy and convenient to print images directly from PictBridge, iPhone™ and Bluetooth[3] compatible devices and the PIXMA MX870 and PIXMA MX350 can also print photos from USB memory & memory cards.

The devices are available across Europe from March 2010.
