Recycled, anti-bacterial and unique - Canon introduces its latest green calculator range

United Kingdom/Republic of Ireland, 1st February 2010 – Canon today announces its new line-up of functional and scientific calculators, launching three models that continue the company’s unique concept of recycling product materials to reduce environmental waste. The new range is Canon’s best and most environmentally-friendly yet, and includes the first calculator to be manufactured from recycled materials taken from Canon’s range of photocopiers that features anti-bacterial keys.

The Canon F-718SGA: good for people, good for the planet
Heading up the new range is the Canon F-718SGA, a scientific calculator that combines strong environmental credentials with an anti-bacterial keypad. Designed to help prevent the spread of bacteria on desks in offices, hospitals and schools, the F-718SGA has a germ-fighting agent mixed into its keys – reducingthe spread of nasty bacteria.

A large, dot-matrix LCD screen offers a contrast adjustment feature for all-round easy viewing. Additionally, a dual-way operation allows the user to work in ‘line’ or 'maths’ mode for extra functionality, while the F-718SGA also features an internal calculation capacity of up to 18 digits, 264 calculation functions and an impressive 17 store and recall memory. An efficient dual-power supply includes solar power, providing an eco-friendly power supply and combining with replaceable batteries to ensure that the product life doesn’t end when the battery runs out.

The Canon LS-10TEG: 100% recycled casing
Canon’s unique range also includes the LS-10TEG, a handheld calculator featuring a 10-digit LCD display. The LS-10TEG is manufactured using recycled plastic, with all external panels taken from Canon’s range of photocopiers – including a 360 degree rotation hard-cover which protects the keys and screen when on the move.

The LS-10TEG features a large LCD screen to make numbers bright and clear, with tax and Euro currency conversion tools also available. The LS-10TEG operates using the dual-power system, combining solar power with replaceable batteries to make the product energy efficient. Waste is further reduced by an Auto-power Off function, which extends battery life by automatically powering down after seven-minutes of non-use.   

The Canon LS-80TEG: compact and portable
The new LS-80TEG is a fully-functioning mini-desktop calculator, and a portable addition to Canon’s desktop range. Featuring upper and lower covers also made from Canon copier material, each model has an 8-digit LCD display, with a tax function and a Euro currency conversion making it a great tool for the home or office.

As with the F-718SGA and the LS-10TEG, the model automatically powers down after seven minutes without use, saving energy. Battery power itself is provided by easily replaceable batteries, offering the convenience to simply swap cells after the power runs out. The LS-80TEG features a champagne gold spray finish, projecting a luxury feel in-hand.
