Last year’s inaugural show attracted over 2800 professionals, with expectations of 2010 being even more popular. This year’s show has been designed to be the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of Canon’s professional imaging products. The show aims to educate and inspire visitors with demonstrations of how this technology and that of compatible products can be used by professionals in their workflow to generate increased revenue and business.

Due to the popularity of last year’s show seminar programme, Canon will be running an additional seminar room. Confirmed speakers for this year’s event include Phillip Bloom, Thorsten Milse, Clive Booth, Dan Chung, Jonathan Scott, Ben Osborne, Brett Harkness, Nik Software Sennheiser, British Press Photographers Association, Institute of Videographers, London Photographic Association and Matthew Lloyd – the winner of Times Young Photographer of the Year 2009. Seminars are free and entrance is on a first come first served basis.
The show will feature a live professional kitchen hosted by chef and food writer Alex Rushmer – one of the last three finalists in the BBC’s MasterChef 2010. Mark Moreve, Director of Photography will be running live demonstrations in the HD zone using Canon’s latest XF 305 professional camcorder and the EOS 5D Mark II.
The live studio will be at the centre of the show, and Andy Kruczek, Gary Fong and David Newton will be running live shoots and demonstrations including on-camera flash, studio lighting and shooting in available light.

Individual zones for: EOS DLSR cameras, DPP software, EF Lenses and accessories, Professional Camcorders, Broadcast Lenses, Large Format Printing, PIXMA and SELPHY printers, PowerShot and IXUS HS cameras, LEGRIA camcorders, scanners, projectors, binoculars and calculators.
Canon Professional Services Zone; The CPS team will be on hand to give technical appraisals of images, open new CPS memberships, upgrade and downgrade firmware and run Canon diagnostics on shutter actuations. There will be a gallery of images printed on Canon large format printers, showcasing the phenomenal detail and resolution in a current campaign by photographer Clive Booth.
Informal seating areas will offer a place to log on, network and catch up.
The CPS team will also be running a programme of live demonstrations of Canon features including Wi-Fi, flash, and EOS Utility.

The winner of this prestigious competition sponsored by Canon will be announced during a VIP reception to be held on the evening of the opening day. Images from the six finalists will be shown in the Gallery Area of the show. Paul Sanders, Picture Editor of The Times says: “The Times Young Photographer of the Year competition is the most important prize in news photography for aspiring young photographers. The previous winners have all established themselves as very successful news photographers, and with the backing of Canon for a second year running the profile of the event is now even higher. Canon Unveils New Concepts for Future of Imaging at Canon EXPO 2010 Paris
United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 12 October, 2010 – Canon, world-leader in imaging solutions, today unveiled a wide range of new products and concept imaging technologies which will shape the future of imaging for consumer, professional, business, and healthcare environments at Canon EXPO 2010 in Paris.
Building on a history of continuous innovation and re-affirming its goal to develop products recognised as number one in their categories, Canon will be demonstrating new technologies from image capture through to mixed reality interaction and digital radiography at the EXPO exhibition.
The company will also be outlining its commitment to further develop its services business to deliver value for customers by unveiling a new Consultancy Services business, entering the enterprise information and media management market.
The highlights of the new imaging innovations are being demonstrated at Canon EXPO 2010 Paris, 12 – 14 October, and include:
§ In the New Perspective of Imaging zone, Canon's imaging technologies will give visitors a unique view into the power of image by allowing them to see images in a way they could not have seen before – making the invisible, visible
§ Multi-purpose camera - a compact and lightweight camera which supports both video and still image capture with ultra-high definition 4K resolution. Suitable for both work and professional use it features a newly developed CMOS sensor that enables video shooting at high frame rates in excess of 60 frames per second
§ Interactive mixed reality - Combining the real and virtual worlds in real-time, creating a visual experience in which users can not only "see" images in a visual space, but also control and create them. Canon's Mixed Reality concept system uses a head-mounted display with built-in cameras and a computer which processes video to blend real and virtual realities
§ Medical imaging – a range of new imaging innovations, from Canon’s first fully integrated low-dose digital radiography system, to eyecare imaging solutions that enable healthcare professionals to visualise the retina in 3D for quicker and more accurate diagnosis for patients.

Canon Business Strategy Update
During his keynote address at EXPO Paris 2010, Mr Fujio Mitarai, Chairman and CEO Canon Inc. provided details of Canon’s business strategy for the next five years. This strategy further promotes Canon’s two longstanding key strategies of globalisation and diversification.
Canon and Océ
In March 2010, Canon became the majority shareholder in Océ, one of the world’s leading providers of document management and print products and services for professionals. Canon and Océ will be demonstrating their products and solutions together for the first time at EXPO, exhibiting the broadest portfolio of production and large format print systems available to the professional print market. Integration planning by the two companies is well underway and initial steps to combine Canon and Océ’s product portfolios are now being taken in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Océ is already selling a range of Canon devices through its channels and Canon will start to sell its first Océ products at the end of the year.
In an illustration of its commitment to broadening services available to customers, Canon Europe will be unveiling a new Consultancy Services business at the event. This business will see Canon collaborate with Accenture to enter an emerging European enterprise information and media management market, predicted to be worth $9.6bn annually.
This new organisation will draw on Canon’s expertise and heritage in information and imaging solutions and Accenture’s leading business management consulting services to target large enterprise companies initially in UK Switzerland, Finland and Austria with six further countries going live in 2011.
