Canon plans support for new ISO Productivity Standards governing print & copy speed

United Kingdom / Republic of Ireland, 08 January, 2009: In its continued support of international standards Canon announces its intention to implement the new ISO productivity standards governing quoted print & copy speeds from digital printing products.

The standards, ISO/IEC 24734 and 24735 that are currently at FDIS (Final Draft International Standard) stage are now nearing completion.

Currently vendors use a variety of methodologies to quote print and copy speeds. Under the new standards participating vendors would adopt a common measurement system to quote print and copy speed performance. This makes it easier for users to choose products according to their printing and copying needs.

In future Canon plans to quote print and copy speeds based on the new standard. The actual applicable products will be announced upon their availability.
