The XEED SX7 Mark II Medical joins the XEED WUX10 Mark II Medical and the XEED SX80 Mark II Medical to provide an out-of-the-box solution for the crystal clear display of digital X-Ray images[i]. This new member of Canon’s XEED Medical portfolio can also be used with the AcuScreenPRO system, offering precise calibration by optimising the projected image according to the unique ambient conditions of a particular environment.
Canon-quality image – different shades of grey
The XEED SX7 Mark II Medical features an ultra-bright 4000 lumens image with native SXGA+ resolution (1400 x 1050 pixels) and a 1000:1 contrast ratio for rich blacks and smooth greyscale gradation. Weighing just 4.8kg, the XEED SX7 Mark II Medical is compact and portable, making it ideal for displaying case studies at medical conferences or lectures. The XEED SX7 Mark II Medical simulates the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard with 21 greyscale presets which can be changed to optimise the image display according to the ambient light conditions in the room. This allows the projector to display the highest possible image quality in a variety of different rooms, with variable light conditions such as conference halls, medical schools and hospital meeting rooms. Canon’s Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) panel technology also allows much more detailed image rendering and eliminates the ‘lattice’ and ‘rainbow’ effects commonly experienced with LCD and DLP projectors. This allows the audience to more easily identify the subtle shadows or anomalies illustrating the case in discussion, even from a distance. Bespoke tailoring for a perfect projector “fit”
When installed permanently in one room, users may decide to calibrate the XEED SX7 Mark II Medical for the unique light conditions of the space. The AcuScreenPRO system, an on-site calibration system available from Canon’s partner Larivière GmbH, uses software and a special luminance sensor to evaluate a number of environmental factors, such as the tone and intensity of ambient light, as well as the type of screen used. Based on this information, AcuScreenPRO makes precise corrections to the gamma curve of the projector, optimising the output to yield highly detailed greyscale images - rendered in the highest possible quality for those conditions. The data is then stored on-board the projector in its ‘lookup table’, meaning that the projector holds its calibrated settings even after power off, and is therefore always ready for use on subsequent occasions.
