• Canon’s Wayne Barlow has been awarded Lifetime Membership to the BAPC for his work supporting the UK printing industry
• The Canon imagePRESS C7000VP wins Product of the Year for the second year running
• Canon customer Park Lane Press wins Environmental Printer of the Year
The first accolade was the BAPC Product of the Year award for the flagship press in the range, the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP. The printer has sold more than 75 units to commercial printers and in-house print departments in the UK since its launch in 2007. It is the second time that the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP has picked up the award and joins the Canon CLC3200 as the only products to have ever been awarded the BAPC Product of the Year for two consecutive years.
Canon customer Park Lane Press also picked up the Environment Printer of the Year award for its commitment to green issues. The company operates a Canon imagePRESS C7000VP in its equipment portfolio of digital and litho presses.
Finally, one of Canon’s longest serving stalwarts was honoured with the BAPC Lifetime Membership for his commitment to supporting the BAPC and the UK printing industry as a whole. Wayne Barlow, Canon UK General Manager for Professional Print, Corporate and International Group was awarded the Lifetime Membership for the support to printers and copy shops through the development of initiatives such as Canon’s Essential Business Builder Program – a modular series of business training workshops and consultations from independent industry experts.
Freddie Kienzler, Honorary Life Member and BAPC Deputy Chairman, said: "We are very selective in our choices for Honorary Lifetime Memberships and the names that make the list are individuals who are easily recognisable as people who have made real contributions, not only to the BAPC but to the industry as a whole. Wayne Barlow, our very own Barnsley Bomber, has on many occasions put himself out to help the BAPC and its members and I am delighted to have honoured him with this award."
Wayne has worked within the print industry and at Canon for over 20 years and has been integral to Canon’s achievements as a supplier of choice.
Ben Milford, Head of Professional Print, Canon UK said; "Canon is dedicated to the professional print industry and it’s fantastic that we are winning these awards. This year, the BAPC recognised our contribution through our products, our customers, and our staff, which shows our ongoing commitment to the industry.
"Wayne has been focused on helping printers grow their business from the beginning and Canon is very pleased that his hard work and dedication to the print industry has been recognised with the BAPC Lifetime Membership. He is known within Canon and by his customers as a ‘man of action’ and we applaud him for the Lifetime Membership."
