22x Optical zoom The V60Hi incorporates a high magnification 22x optical zoom lens—the largest in its class. It gives high quality images throughout its 3.6mm wide-angle to 79.2 telephoto lens. Distant subjects can be brought even closer by using the digital zoom facility, which creates the effect of a 800x zoom.
High quality playback The V60Hi offers superb colour resolution and sharp edge response thanks to Canon’s Y/C enhancer, which provides sharper colour resolution and improved edge response. The dual APC reduces horizontal colour fluctuation and Canon’s time base corrector system lets the user handle quick changes in picture contrast when playing back the picture.
FlexiZone AE/AF The V60Hi features Canon’s unique FlexiZone AF and AE system, which ensures that sharp focus is always maintained wherever the subject lies within the frame—even if it’s moving. The exposure level can be locked by simply pressing the FlexiZone controller and then keeping track of any moving object that must remain in focus.
FlexiZone AE uses the same white square in the viewfinder or LCD screen to provide the ideal exposure. The user can choose to meter from the area selected for focusing, thereby avoiding under or over exposure. These are problems that can occur when the focusing and metering areas are different.
Program AE mode One dial gives access to six exposure program modes to give the best result in any situation. The auto mode will handle most general subjects. In addition, there are sports, portrait, sand and snow, and spotlight modes, as well as FlexiZone.
Custom keys The V60Hi features ‘custom keys’, something unique to Canon camcorders. These keys allow the user to activate their preferred functions at a press of a button. Any of eight functions can be assigned to these keys—digital zoom, image stabilisations, image stabilisation, digital effect select, ON/OFF, title, date, fade and BLC--allowing users to customise their camcorder.
Digital effects A number of digital effects are included on the V60Hi to offer the user plenty of creative potential: art, b/w, sepia, negative, mirror, mosaic, 16:9 and cinema.
