1.33 megapixel CCD The MVX1i is ideal for advanced camcorder enthusiasts and users who demand a high level of image and colour resolution. The new 1.33 megapixel CCD lends outstanding resolution for still images, while Canon’s optical image stabilizer enhances the quality of both still and moving pictures by preventing blurring at any focal distance.
The bright optical 10x zoom lens can be digitally extended to 200x—equivalent to a zoom range of 48mm to 9600mm in 35mm film format.
Iris aperture The MXV1i has the same six-blade iris aperture of the Canon’s high-end XM1. It creates images as beautiful as those shot by a SLR camera. The high refractive index glass mould lens has also been adopted from Canon’s digital IXUS to enhance picture quality further.
Built-in flash A new auto pop-up built-in flash makes it possible to shoot at the correct exposure, even in dark surroundings.
Flexible LCD monitor A high-resolution, 2.5” LCD monitor is mounted on the side of the camcorder, which can be moved to a variety of positions for shooting and the playing back of recordings. Its information display gives a number of details, such as zoom position, battery level and tape remaining. The monitor turns and flips for maximum handling comfort and also folds away when bright conditions make the eyecup viewer a better shooting method.
Progressive photo system Canon’s progressive photo system provides excellent digital picture quality by eliminating time lag blurring and capturing clear, sharp still images.
SD memory card/multimedia card slot The SD memory card slot and 8MB SD memory card allow the MVX1i not only to capture still images on DV tape, but to record, store and retrieve still images and movie files. This function also allows for the transfer of still images and movie files to a PC via a USB connection, PC card adapter and card reader.
DV and analogue in The MVX1i provides users with digital line-in functionality. Using this feature, you can upload edited footage or graphics for you computer or other device to the camcorder. Because the signal is digital, the images can be transferred without loss of image quality. Users can also convert analogue video and audio signals, on VHS or 8mm tape, into digital signal for real-time output from the DV terminal.
Extended recording A unique extended recording function substantially increases the length of recording time per cassette and prevents you from running out of tape at a crucial moment.
Advanced shoe accessory The advanced accessory shoe allows optional accessories to be mounted on the MVX1i. Once mounted the shoe is capable of exchanging data and supplying power directly to all compatible accessories.
Multi-image screen The MVX1i includes a multi-image screen, allowing images to be played back on the LCD panel, which is divided into four, nine or 16 separate screens. Alternatively, the camera can display a series of images in sequence.
Long-lasting battery pack The optional battery pack, BP-535, provides users with six and a half hours of recording time. The new internal battery charging function allows a battery to be recharged while it is attached to the main body of the camcorder.
