Fast and quiet zooming
Lenses powered by an Ultrasonic Motor (USM) achieve super-fast, near-silent zooming – perfect when photographing wildlife. This zoom powers in and out smoothly and swiftly, so you can compose a shot on the spur of the moment. Its quiet operation is also great for movies, since it won’t be heard on the sound track.

Zoom even further
In addition to the zoom capability of the lens, current models help you get even closer with a Digital Tele-Converter. At a certain point digital zoom can compromise the quality of you image, but with Safety Zoom, you control the image quality. Depending on your desired resolution, the camera will warn you when further zooming would harm image quality, giving you the option to stop, or continue zooming.
