Superior film reproduction
The FS4000US is geared to the production demands of professionals who require fast throughput, powerful colour correction, image management and compatibility with a PC or Macintosh system. The FS4000US combines refined optics and a new film advancement mechanism to ensure 4000 x 4000 dpi resolution. No other scanner in its class exceeds its performance.
CCD sensor
The CCD has an advanced three-line sensor and the cold cathode mercury fluorescent lamp uses a brightness feedback circuit to ensure high, stable luminance levels. The result is extremely accurate colour rendition compared to the original film and the retention of a high level of detail.
FARE
FARE (Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) is a Canon-developed technology that automatically retouches the parts of an image affected by dirt and scratches. The FS4000US uses new hardware and software to detect these imperfections and can be switched on or off using the driver.
A new optical system in the FS4000US also detects and focuses on uneven film distances automatically to provide the sharpest scan possible. Using FilmGet FS software (included) users can adjust the focus manually in the case of damaged originals.
Batch scanning
When you batch load into the scanner, the FS4000US recognises 35mm filmstrip or mounted slide, negative or positive APS film. Each image in your batch can be previewed as a thumb-nail on-screen before you scan.
Automatic film advance
The scanner advances film automatically using both a film holder advance and film advance housing movement.
Dual interface
The CanoScan FS4000US is both USB and SCSI compatible. A simple switch controls the port you use. The SCSI-2 interface makes ultra-fast data transfer possible, while USB gives you a ‘plug and play’ direct connection.
The FS4000US is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows Me. The scanner is also compatible with iMac, iBook, PowerBook, Blue/White G3, all G4s and Mac OS 8.6-9.1. When using the high-speed SCSI-2 interface, the scanner is compatible with the Power Macintosh and Mac OS 8.1 or higher.
Added software
The FS4000US comes with a comprehensive software bundle, including Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE image editor and Canon’s FilmGet FS driver software.
