General-Anzeiger & Canon

The production department of the Bonn daily newspaper, the General-Anzeiger, found a solution to their proofing problems with the imagePROGRAF iPF710.

A common problem
Bonn’s daily newspaper, the General-Anzeiger - like many others - suffered from the recurring problem that proofs on normal paper or special newsprint proof paper, don’t correspond to the final print layout. But with the help of a Canon imagePROGRAF iPF710 and EFI ColorProof they discovered a workable solution.

Accurate colour proofs
The Canon solution allows the General-Anzeiger to respond more effectively to increasingly demanding customer requirements for colour reproduction in adverts and printed material. The customer's artwork is reproduced so accurately in the newsprint proofs that it corresponds exactly to the final print layout. As a result, the proofs are binding for both parties.

"The dye inks of the iPF710 are particularly useful for us as they have a larger colour space than equivalent pigment inks. This was one of the reasons why we opted for the Canon printer," says Thomas Köhns.
