The Canon PLUS Programme in action |
The advantages of joining the PLUS programme are best illustrated through real experiences of existing PLUS partners. The following examples show how the scheme has brought tangible benefits to three very different
businesses…
Canon PLUS for confidence - BCL Systems |
BCL Systems, based in Caterham, Surrey, is in its 23rd year and has grown into a multi-million pound organisation with a staff of approximately 20. Philip Kavanagh, Managing Director explains what the PLUS programme means to them.
"Having achieved PLUS partner status we were accepted onto the PLUS Programme in March 2002. The biggest part of the programme is the training and the system of evaluation. We were able to prove our ability to provide solutions within the network
environment and meet the other requirements. Now our sales team can act with increased confidence knowing not only are they selling quality products but that the service that goes with them meets the highest criteria. The advantage to the customer is that
they know we are highly capable in the digital networking arena. It may not sound that beneficial, but ask any customer who’s dealt with an incompetent supplier."

Canon PLUS for quality at a local level - IT@Spectrum |
IT@Spectrum serves the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire areas. Established originally in 1983 as a Canon only photocopier supplier, they now offer a full range of IT solutions. Director Ken Sturdy explains how the Canon programme was instrumental in their transformation.
"As copying converged with digital and networking technology we needed to raise our training levels. This coincided with Canon’s launch of the PLUS Programme making our task much easier. It now forms our own minimum training standard and at least 10 of
our 31 members of staff have achieved the Individual PLUS Accreditation. When we needed to upgrade our showroom to better reflect our full range of products and services and be more IT orientated again the scheme came to our aid. We had access to
expertise in showroom design through the Centre of Excellence initiative, which supports a core of partners to provide highly professional environments. The result was an ideal sales area in which to show IT related products effectively and derive maximum
benefit from Canon branding. As a result we feel we have eliminated the local competition for our level of business."

Canon PLUS to keep customers - Sandham Office Services |
Sandham Office Services are based in Sandown on the Isle of White. When Terry Jarman started the company in 1982 he serviced Canon typewriters and dictation machines expanding the following year to include copiers. In fact when he started out there were no copiers on the Island – now his staff of 12 handles 700.
"This is a small, tight-knit community and we cannot afford to lose customers so it’s important that we offer the best possible service and the PLUS Programme supports us to do this. We have been a PLUS Partner since the beginning of this year and we are
already beginning to see benefits, keeping abreast of all the developments in networking and connectivity. The training enables us to recruit locally and ensure that our trainee sales and service personnel gain a full understanding of the business
environment and not just Canon solutions. It also gives our customers reassurance that all the skills that they need to draw upon are available right here on the island."
