FAQ: Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E4 Latest firmware update

Firmware Version 1.0.1 incorporates the following fixes:

  1. Fixes a phenomenon where a network error occurs when the wireless file transmitter is used while being connected to a network.

  2. Fixes a phenomenon where the connection between the camera and computer is terminated when using the EOS Utility software to shoot movies, and the camera no longer recognizes the wireless file transmitter.

Solution:


Important:
Firmware Version 1.0.1 is for the WFT-E4 wireless file transmitter with firmware up to Version 1.0.0. If the firmware is already Version 1.0.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Preparations for the firmware update:

Windows:

  1. Download the compressed file (zip file).
  2. Double-click on the zip file. WinZip or a similar archive utility will launch.
  3. From the Actions dropdown menu choose Select All.
  4. Click Extract from the toolbar.
  5. Choose a location for the extracted files.
  6. When files are extracted, navigate to the extracted files.
    The extracted files are the firmware (file name: WE400101.UPD / file size: 1,877,900 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese).
    Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to confirm the contents of the download and carefully read through the firmware update procedures.

Macintosh:

  1. Download the self-extracting, compressed file (dmg file).
  2. Double-click on the dmg to access the contents.
    The contents are the firmware (file name: WE400101.UPD / file size: 1,877,900 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese).
    Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to confirm the contents of the download and carefully read through the firmware update procedures.
