FAQ: What does FP Flash stand for on the EX-series Speedlite flashes for my Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera?

Helpful Information:

Solution:

FP Flash stands for Flat Pulse Flash. It is also referred to as High-Speed Synchronisation Flash.

The FP flash mode of EX-series Speedlites allows E-TTL EOS cameras to synchronise the flash at any shutter speed. Therefore, even in bright daylight conditions, a fast lens can be used at a wide aperture to blur the background and emphasize the subject (e.g. in portraiture).

FP flash is automatic and simple to use. It is available in Intelligent Program AE, Shutter-priority AE, Aperture-priority AE and Manual modes.

Remark:
Please check the Speedlite's instruction manual for more detailed information.
