Canon hails drupa 2008 success as it breaks all targets

LONDON, June 13, 2008 – Two days after the close of the drupa show, the sales figures for Canon have been added up and the event given a firm thumbs up, after bringing in more than 16,000 sales leads during the last 14 days and breaking all targets.

  • Canon outperforms targets at drupa

  • imagePRESS sales particularly strong

  • Tired but elated staff return home

More than 160 colour imagePRESS machines were sold at the show, far exceeding expectations and reinforcing the popularity of the Canon brand. Sales were brisk across the full range of production presses, from the imagePRESS C1 proofer, all the way up to the flagship Canon imagePRESS C7000VP.

Large format press sales also fared well, with particular interest in the CAD printers, including an early viewing of the new imagePROGRAF iPF810 and iPF820 range, sitting alongside the high quality graphics range – including the award- winning Canon imagePROGRAF 6100.

All the hardware sales were underpinned by the solutions offered by Canon on its stand. One zone was dedicated to the Canon Essential Business Builder Program, a series of modular training and consultation exercises designed to take the printer through all aspects of digital, from simple print all the way to using variable data sets and multimedia techniques.

The Canon stand was similarly constructed around a Path to Profit, demonstrating simple solutions at the beginning of the stand and taking customers and prospects along a journey to look at the most sophisticated printing equipment Canon can offer.

Per Klavsen, Canon European Corporate and International Channel Director says: “As well as reaching these record breaking technology sales, it was excellent to see so many of our customers thinking about developing future solutions through the Canon Essential Business Builder program modules. We manufacture some very powerful pieces of machinery but the real key to success is knowing how to unlock that power and harness its full potential. The Canon Essential Business Builder Program addresses just that.

“As always, drupa is an intense industry event, but at the end of the day when you come back with great sales figures it is all worth it. We’d like to thank all our customers who came to see us in Hall 8A. We have already confirmed our attendance for IPEX 2010 as a result of the success at the drupa event.”
