Revolution Transfers is first to market with a Canon-based screen printing film stencil solution

REIGATE, January 8, 2008 - Canon, a world leader in digital imaging technology, today announced that one of its reseller partners, Leicestershire-based Revolution Transfers, is first to market with a chemical-free system . The solution, which can deliver a halftone screen resolution of up to 72 lines per inch (lpi), combines a Canon CAD LFP, imagePROGRAF iPF500, imagePROGRAF iPF600 or imagePROGRAF iPF700, with a ColorGate RIP and screen film.

  •    develops affordable screen film production solution from Canon large format printers (LFPs)

  • High quality film stencil output for screen printers from Canon’s CAD family of LFPs – iPF500, iPF600 and iPF700

  • Canon output is nearly 50% faster than nearest competitors

The solution, which has been developed by Revolution Transfers, enables screen printers to produce screen stencils in-house from a Canon LFP at a fraction of the cost of traditional film stencils, which require an imagesetter and chemical processes. Revolution Transfers’ system uses Canon dye inks, which means that the image is more opaque and scratch resistant than film stencils produced on alternative pigment-based printers. This ensures image fidelity when the stencil is exposed onto screen emulsion using UV light.

Revolution Transfers Managing Director, Jan Edgecombe said: “We’re delighted to be the first to market with a bundled, Canon-based screen film stencil production system. As well as being an equipment reseller, we’re screen printers so we understand the market. The advantage with the Canon solution is speed – our tests show that it’s 50% faster than its rivals. It also delivers excellent image quality because its dye-based inks adhere to the film excellently. We have already sold three units and anticipate strong demand.”
Revolution Transfers calibrate each system during installation to ensure accurate linearisation and perfect halftones. The ColorGate RIP, called FilmGate, can run on any PC and can process print files from any network computer that runs Windows, Mac OSX or Linux.

Matthew Searle, Director Canon Partner Channel, Canon UK said: “This is an excellent example of one of our reseller partners adding real value to its customers. The fact that Revolution Transfers has developed a high-end silkscreen film production system in-house is testament to the company’s expertise and knowledge of its sector. We have worked with Revolution Transfers for a number of years and I am confident that our relationship will continue to flourish.”

Revolution Transfers is selling the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF500 17’’ LFP with FilmGate RIP for £2,995 (plus VAT), the 24’’ imagePROGRAF iPF600 for £3,995 (plus VAT) and the 36’’ imagePROGRAF iPF700 for £5,995.
