A small dog native to Japan, the Shiba was declared a ‘natural monument’ in 1936 by the Japanese government, in an effort to prevent their extinction. The number of purebred Shiba was drastically low, due to interbreeding with foreign dogs. The efforts
paid off, and today Shiba are extremely popular pets in Japan. This model is about 1/3 the size of a real Shiba.
