One of the world’s tallest mammals, giraffe are recognised by their long necks, long legs, and the spotted patterns on their coats. Found mostly in central, eastern, and southern Africa, the giraffe uses its height to graze on tree foliage that is out
of reach of other animals. One of their favourite foods is the leaf of the acacia tree. A thorny tree, giraffes are able to use their 45 centimetre long tongue
to remove leaves and reach around the thorns. Just like humans, giraffes have seven vertebrae in their necks, however each bone can be up to 26 centimetres long. On average, giraffes are around 5 metres tall, and in the wild can live for over 20 years.
