Rabbit

Information

There are many different species that make up the rabbit family and they can be found across most parts of the globe. Rabbits are small mammals that are generally characterised as having large ears, strong hindquarters and short fluffy tails. As herbivores, they have four strong front incisors on their top jaw, and two on their bottom jaw. The first written record of rabbits was by the Phoenicians in 1000 BCE. Since then rabbits have been used as food, hunted for their pelts, domesticated as pets, as well as continuing to live in the wild – in certain countries they are even regarded as pests.
