Belem Tower

Belem Tower

Information:

Belem Tower was constructed in four years, between 1515 and 1519, in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon. It was built to commemorate the famous explorer Vasco Da Gama’s famous expedition to India, and its official name is Torre de São Vicente (St Vincent’s Tower). The castle itself features a water dungeon, which was built underground to hold political prisoners of the time.
