Colosseum

Information

The word Colosseum is Latin for huge or colossal. And at 50 meters (165 feet) tall and 500 meters (1650 feet) in circumference, Rome’s most famous building lives up to its name. Built in the days of Ancient Rome as a centre for competitions and entertainment it is said that it was sometimes filled with water from nearby lakes to stage mock naval battles – now it’s just filled with tourists.
