Information

Holland is famous for windmills –the first ones appeared back in the 1200s. At that time, they were used to mill wheat into flour, although by the 1400s they were also used for pumping water. Today, Holland is still associated with windmills – perhaps because it is so flat and can easily harness the power of the wind. There are many types of windmill: this one is called the Grand Sailor.
