It’s the season of spooks and ghouls – so start decorating your house for Halloween! In the mid-nineteenth century, lanterns made of carved pumpkins were known as jack-o'lanterns and became famous symbols of the occasion. They got their name from a mythological farmer, Jack, who wandered the Earth after he died, with a glowing piece of coal in a carved-out turnip to light his way.
