Solent Design Studio is a full-service commercial Print Service Provider. The family-run firm produces a wide spectrum of printed products, including business stationery, flyers, manuals, calendars and books, for customers in the south of England.
Solent Design Studio had embraced short-run digital printing but knew its digital kits was lagging behind. The company needed to broaden the scope of its short-run work, migrate work from litho to digital, and expand its applications portfolio with new substrates, formats and matt finishes.
After a discussion with Canon consultants and a visit to the showroom, Solent Design Studio invested in two colour digital presses – the 100ppm Canon imagePRESS C10000VP and an imagePRESS C750 – and an Océ VarioPrint 6160 for mono work.
With sustained growth, digital business now makes up close to half of the company's revenues.
The huge improvement in digital quality means Solent Design Studio has been able to migrate a substantial proportion of litho work to digital – even jobs that need deep solids, special colours and tints. This means the Studio can now take on new short-run business, which would previously have been unfeasible due to the low run-length on the litho press and low-quality of its previous digital printer line-up.
THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WITH CANON FROM THE MOMENT WE WALKED IN WAS ABSOLUTELY INSPIRATIONAL.
Compelling output quality and extended media options from the Canon digital presses is opening doors for Solent Design Studio.
The printing business has already expanded into A4 landscape books, thanks to the duplex banner printing option on the imagePRESS C750. Plus, 90% of business card work is now printed digitally on the imagePRESS C10000VP – which can accurately match Pantone colours and handle with ultra-short run packaging.
As the client win-rate is steadily increases, Solent Design Studio can stand out from the crowd by delivering enhanced output quality and an extended product range.
WHEN WE SHOW CUSTOMERS WHAT WE CAN PRODUCE DIGITALLY NOW, THEY'RE AMAZED.
