Canon Europe announces release of uniFLOW 5.4 to unleash new print and scan capabilities for businesses
LONDON, 22 February 2015 – Canon, world leader in imaging solutions, today announces the release of the latest version of its award-winning uniFLOW integrated network print and scan management software, which introduces several powerful new features designed to help businesses to significantly improve their document workflows, maintain control of cost and unlock new creative potential.
uniFLOW 5.4 adds to Canon’s already powerful platform, which is designed to manage diverse printer fleets and provide businesses with an intuitive print and scan workflow. It makes printing and scanning possible from any connected PC or mobile device to any uniFLOW-enabled printer or scanner on the network, while maintaining a high standard of security and an unparalleled control of print costs.
Revolutionise document workflows
uniFLOW 5.4 introduces an enhanced scanning interface that now works on Canon’s ScanFront document scanners as well as Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE multi-function devices. Users can scan straight into document storage platforms like Microsoft’s SharePoint and OneDrive, or submit files into business process workflows like Therefore for faster and more secure document processing.
Several new features to assist mobile and flexible working environments have been added. User profiles can be set up so a user has easy access to options tailored to their specific needs, which are synchronised across all devices in the network. Printing from mobile devices has been significantly improved with the ability to change finishing options directly at the device, further adding to uniFLOW’s strengths as a platform for flexible workplaces.
Unique business control
A key challenge for every business is maintaining a detailed awareness of costs and making their services as efficient and productive as possible. uniFLOW enables central management of a print fleet, with reporting of usage and costs.
uniFLOW 5.4 maintains support for non-Canon devices within a mixed legacy print fleet. This makes uniFLOW an even more powerful tool for accounting, maintenance and management, even across multiple offices.
A simplified price profile creation and management process makes it easy to set up accurate costs for printing on each device, and create a pricing structure for environments like universities or serviced offices, or where individual teams have specific print budgets.
User management has been improved, including a self-service workflow for registering a temporary ID card or replacing an old card at the device. Integration of uniFLOW with Canon’s iW Secure Audit Manager Express application provides exceptional security measures to identify and protect sensitive information, preventing the duplication of protected documents, or alerting a security manager if certain keywords are recognised.
New creative potential
uniFLOW 5.4 introduces compatibility with Canon’s Océ PlotWave and ColorWave wide format printers, unlocking a huge new range of potential for creative printing in a business environment. Users needing to print large images or technical documents can now do so using the familiar central uniFLOW system.
uniFLOW also integrates with Océ PRISMAdirect, Canon’s powerful print room management platform, which is used to control Canon’s imagePRESS range of professional production printers. This means a uniFLOW user database and budget structure can be integrated into a print room environment, unlocking the creative potential of print room services for users, reducing the need for outsourcing complex print content while simultaneously making it easier for businesses to have a unified view of the budget for all of their print services.
uniFLOW 5.4 is available from February 2016.
