Canon UK and Ireland ‘St Moritz’ Facebook Competition

To celebrate the launch of our fantastic winter offer,we’re pleased to offer our fans the chance to win a luxury trip to St Moritz, where the lucky winner will shoot the stunning sport of skijoring at the amazing White Turf 2016 event! Plus take part in a tutorial held by Canon Ambassador Richard Walch, and be Canon’s roving reporter in St Moritz to share images and stories from the event on our social channels.

Whilst you’re in St Moritz we’ll cover your accommodation, which is in the beautiful 5 star Kempinski Grand Hotel Des Bains, flights, private airport transfers, meals (breakfast and dinner plus daily lunch allowance) and travel insurance (which does not cover pre-existing medical conditions) are covered and a total of £500 spending money, plus get you close to all the amazing skijoring action with grandstand seats at the awe-inspiring White Turf 2016 on 14th February 2016. Winners will travel on 12th February.

How to enter :

Submit your best image which showcases a theme highlighted by posting it on social media. We will share the creative theme that will define the judging criteria per submission period, which will sit within these three periods: Monday 9th November–Monday 16th November (closing at 8am GMT), Monday 23rdNovember - Monday 30th November (closing at 8am GMT) and Monday 7th December - 14th December December (closing at 8am GMT). Please submit your image on any of the social media platforms:

c.    Facebook (by commenting on the relevant Canon UK Facebook post - during the submission period)

Each week commencing on Monday 9th November,  Canon will choose a theme which will be published on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The Entrant will have one week to submit their image (the “Submission Period”). Please see the Terms and Conditions below for more information.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.  Participants provide a complete release of Facebook in relation to this competition.

 

Entry to this promotion is conditional upon your acceptance of these terms and conditions. Please follow the directions set out below to ensure correct entry to the promotion. Prior to any award of a prize, winners may be required to reconfirm adherence to these terms.

1. The Promoter:

2. Entrants:


2.1. Only open to residents in the UK, Ireland or Channel Islands aged 18 or over.

2.2. Companies and other commercial entities are not eligible to participate.

2.3. Persons affiliated with Canon or any Canon affiliate or Canon group company, including but not limited to Canon staff and their family members, may enter images but will not be entitled to win any prize.


3. Entry Requirements:


3.1. No purchase or entry fee is required to enter into this competition, however, all conditions below must be met in order to be eligible to win any prize.

3.2. To be entered into the competition, Entrants must upload their best themed image (the three themes will be declared by Canon) during one of the three Submissions Periods during the term (see 3.5), on the following social media platforms:

3.2.1. Twitter (via their own Twitter profile) with #CanonSkijoring applied

3.2.2. Instagram (via their own Instagram profile) with #CanonSkijoring applied

3.2.3. Facebook (by commenting on the relevant Canon UK Facebook post -https://www.facebook.com/CanonUKLtd - during the submission period)

3.3. At the time of announcing the opening of the submission period, Canon will confirm an image related theme that will define the judging criteria for that period.

3.4. Entrants must also like or follow the relevant Canon UK social media page for Facebook, Twitter (https://twitter.com/CanonUKandIE) or Instagram (https://instagram.com/canonuk/ ).

3.5. The Competition shall be for the period between 9th November 2015 and 11th December 2015 (the "Term")

3.6. Each of the three submission periods runs from 0001 GMT on the date of opening until 8am GMT on the date of closing with the entry period for the first submission opening at 0001GMT 9th November 2015 and closing for the final submission at 8:00am GMT on 14th December. The submission Periods will be as follows:

  • Monday 9th –Monday 16th November (closing at 8am GMT)
  • Monday 23rd-Monday 30th November (closing at 8am GMT)
  • Monday 7th- Monday 14th December (closing at 8am GMT)

3.7. Entrants can enter the same image in any one of the three (3) Submission Periods and/or multiple entries in one Submission Period however, only one prize per image per Submission Period and per participant will be awarded.

3.8. Images entered must be original, your own work and have not been previously published anywhere.

3.9. By submitting your images, you confirm they do not contain:

3.9.1. Recognisable persons, unless you can demonstrate that such persons have granted all the necessary permissions for the photographs to be used and published by Canon under the terms and conditions of the "License to use the Photographs" as mentioned below; or

3.10.1.Works of art; unless you can demonstrate that you have been granted a license to have such works of art used and published by Canon under the terms and conditions of the License to use the Photographs mentioned below or

3.10.3.Logos or brand names unless you can demonstrate that you have been granted a license to have such logo or brand names used and published by Canon under the terms and conditions of the License to use the Photographs mentioned below; or

3.10.4.Images featuring nudity or anything which may be considered obscene, immoral or in any way inappropriate; or

3.10.5.Anything that may infringe the rights of any third party;

3.11. By entering images to the promotion you agree that your images may be displayed on the Canon website and the associated Canon sponsored image gallery. You also agree that Canon can use any image submitted during the Term of the promotion for the purposes of administering or promoting this promotion and any subsequent promotion e.g. via social media

3.12. Entrants also agree to be contacted by Canon for the purposes of administrating the promotion or in the event that Canon wishes to discuss any other use of images submitted to the promotion.

3.13. Canon reserves the right to disqualify incomplete or illegible entries or which do otherwise not meet the above requirements.

 

4. Prize Winner Selection and Prize:


4.1. Each of the winning images will be chosen by a panel of judges to include an independent judge and others from Canon UK (or an affiliated company). The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

4.2. The most creative and original images from all valid entries received during each of the three submission periods will be chosen at the judges absolute discretion on the basis of those images best representing a unique perspective of the winter based theme which will depend on the submission period, and the particular theme for that week.

4.3 Each of the three winning images will then be put forward to be judged by an independent judge (to be disclosed) who will not be from Canon UK.

4.4. The prize for each of the three winners will be as follows:

4.4.1 A PowerShot G7 X.

4.4.2. The winner of the overall competition, which will be one of the three previous G7 X winners, willwin a three-night break in St Moritz, staying at the 5 star Kempinski Grand Hotel Des Bains (sharing a double or twin room). Flight, private airport transfers, meals (breakfast and dinner plus daily lunch allowance) and travel insurance (which does not cover pre-existing medical conditions) are covered and a total of £500 spending money plus grandstand tickets to the awe-inspiring White Turf 2016 on 14th February 2016 – to see the sport of skijoring. White Turf tickets are subject to terms and conditions of the event organizer – see www.whiteturf.ch

4.5. The winners will be contacted by their social media profile within 96 hours of the relevant Submission Period closing date and will be asked to confirm acceptance of their prize within 24 hours.

4.6. Once accepted, Canon may then make prize announcements on Canon’s social media channels. Winners’ names will be available to the public for at least 2 months after the close of the promotion.

4.7. Winners will have 24hours to respond to the Canon contact. In the event that a chosen winner does not respond within the deadline, Canon reserves the right to revoke the prize and select another winner in its absolute discretion.

4.8. Entrants who do not win will not be contacted.

4.9. In the event the specified prize products are not available for any reason, Canon reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equivalent or higher value at its absolute discretion and in no event will any cash alternative be offered.

 

5. Data Protection:


5.1. By providing us with your details for entry into this promotion, you are agreeing to receive emails from the Canon and its affiliates unless you opt-out of such correspondence. Your information will be securely stored in accordance with legislation relating to Data Protection and Canon will not share your details with anyone other than as described herein.

 

6. Miscellaneous


6.1. This promotion is run by Canon. Accordingly Canon is responsible for the operation of and all matters and concerns relating to the promotion, all of whom shall not be responsible for or liable to entrants in any way whatsoever in connection with this promotion.

6.2. Canon shall not be liable for any failure to fulfil this offer where such failure is caused by any supervening circumstances amounting to force majeure. Such circumstances shall include, but shall not be limited to, severe weather conditions, fire, flood, war, earthquake, riots, industrial dispute, terrorism, acts of God, or events that, without the fault of either party, render performance impossible or incapable of satisfactory execution.

6.3. Canon accepts no responsibility for entries not received or received after the closing date of midnight GMT on 14th December 2015.

6.4. Canon reserves the right to cancel or amend this promotion due to events or circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.

6.5. This promotion shall be governed by the laws of the England and Wales and Entrants agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
