The Canon World Press Photography Event 2017 Competition

Prize Draw for a FREE ticket for the Canon World Press Photography Event, Holyrood, Edinburgh Friday 4th August 2017.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to the competition to win a ticket to The Canon World Press Photography Event 2017 (“Competition”) at Holyrood, Edinburgh on Friday 4th August 2017 as described below. 

These Terms shall apply between Canon (UK) Ltd. of Woodhatch, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 8BF (“Canon”) and You, the entrant of the Competition (“You”). 

By submitting Your entry to participate in this Competition, You agree that You have read, understood and accepted these Terms. 


1.1 This Competition is open to all PAGB Camera Club Members of United Kingdom, aged 18 years or over. Employees of Canon and their immediate families, the agencies or anyone professionally connected with this Competition, as well as Canon Masters, Canon Ambassadors and Canon Explorers are not eligible to participate. 

1.2 The competition is open for entries between 1st June 2017 and 30th June 2017 inclusive. 

1.3 To enter the Competition you must complete the online form. Entries must be submitted within the entry period shown in 1.2 above. Entries outside of this period will not be accepted for entry to the Competition. 

1.4 Canon cannot be held responsible for any entries not received due to technical problems. 

1.5 Canon reserves the right to disqualify any individual which, at its sole discretion, it believes has tampered with the entry process or who has breached any terms of this Competition. 


2.1 Twenty (20) tickets are available to win – the winners will be selected via a random number generator from all the entries received and each winner will receive one ticket. 

2.2 Winners will be selected on Monday 3rd July 2017and will be informed via e-mail by Thursday 6th July. Winners must confirm acceptance of the prize by e-mail by Tuesday 11th July or the tickets will be reallocated on July 12th 2017. 

2.3 Winners will be sent their tickets via Royal Mail post. 


3.1 All winners will receive a ticket to attend The Canon World Press Photography Event 2017 (“the Event”) which takes place on Friday 4th August 2017 March at Holyrood, Edinburgh (“The Event entry ticket”). 

3.2 Absolutely no cash or other prize alternatives are available in whole or in part. 

3.3 Prize winners are responsible for any obligations related to their winning of any Prize as may be applicable including their travel to and from the Show. 


4.1. Canon (UK) Ltd. is the Data Controller for the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (“DPA”) in respect of any personal data supplied by Participants. Any personal information supplied by entrants will be used and processed by Canon (UK) Limited, its agents or associated group companies solely for the purpose of administering the promotion, and for marketing purposes where Participants have opted-in to receive marketing communications from Canon. 

4.2. Any personal data submitted to us will be processed by Canon (UK) Limited, its agents or associated group companies for the purpose of administering this Promotion and, if applicable, for marketing purposes – in cases when Participants have opted-in to receive marketing communication from Canon. 4.3 The personal data provided is held securely and may be transferred on a secure server outside the EEA. 

4.4 Entrants can unsubscribe from Canon marketing communications at any point by selecting the “Unsubscribe” link which features in the header and/or footer of all such emails. 


5.1 These terms and conditions and any disputes arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. 


6.1. Canon shall not be liable for any failure to meet these Terms of Competition where such failure is caused by any supervening circumstances amounting to force majeure. Such circumstances shall include, but shall not be limited, to severe weather conditions, fire, flood, war, earthquake, riots, industrial dispute, terrorism, acts of god, cancellation and/or suspension of the Event or such events that impact supply of any product to be awarded as a Prize or, events that, without fault of either party, render performance impossible or incapable of satisfactory execution. 

6.2. By entering into the Competition, You agree to release and hold Canon harmless from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Competition or receipt or use of any Prize.
