You may have some questions about our inkjet cartridge recycling programme. The questions below are the most frequently asked questions and we hope they satisfy your need for more information.
The postage envelopes that we issue for the return of Canon inkjet cartridges are designed to hold multiple cartridges. Depending on the cartridge that you have, we estimate you can return between 5 and 10 cartridges per envelope. We would appreciate it if you could send at least five cartridges in each envelope.
Canon has a recycling service for its toner cartridges. To return your Canon toner cartridges, please click on this link www.canon-europe.com/recycling. For toner bottles the policies and procedures vary from country to country and we recommend that you contact your national Canon office for more information.
We only capture the data needed to be able to post the return envelopes to you. All data is managed and stored in line with the Data Protection Act and is deleted after 60 days. Your data will never be used for any purpose other than for the inkjet recycling programme.
Please refer to your printer user guide, or contact the Canon help desk for technical support. http://www.canon-europe.com/Support.
Canon’s inkjet cartridge recycling programme has been set up to reduce waste and re-use resources. We value your support for the recycling programme and it will help us minimise the carbon footprint of this service if at least five cartridges are returned per envelope.
The inkjet cartridge recycling programme is designed for empty Canon cartridges only. While there may be remnants of ink left in the cartridge, this is acceptable and the envelopes are designed to prevent leakage. However, if your cartridge is not empty or is leaking large amounts of ink, we regret that this is not suitable for the recycling programme. In this case, please dispose of the cartridge in a safe manner within your normal waste streams.
All genuine Canon inkjet cartridges from our PIXMA devices can be returned to Canon. Unfortunately we cannot accept large format ink cartridges. If you have these cartridges, please contact your local Canon office to find out the recycling options that are available in your country.
The average recycling rate of these plastics is more than 90% and sometimes this can be as high as 100%. The recycled plastics are used in new products, such as toys and plastic furniture. The remaining plastic that is not recycled (approx 10%) is re-used for energy recovery. No part of the cartridge goes to landfill.
Our inkjet cartridge recycling programme is provided for the return of genuine Canon inkjet cartridges only. We cannot accept cartridges from other manufacturers because we could not confirm the composition of the materials and inks used in order to remain legally compliant. Please contact your cartridge manufacturer for further information on the recycling services they provide.
