Consumer Privacy Policy



1.1 This competition is run by Canon Europa N.V., 59 Bovenkerkerweg, 1185 XB, the Netherlands (“Canon”).

1.2 All entrants (“Participants”) must be from the UK, Ireland France and Italy, residents aged 18 or over.

1.3 Employees of Canon, its subsidiary companies, their families, agents and other parties directly involved with this promotion and the sponsorship are not eligible to enter.

1.4 By entering this competition, all participants are deemed to have agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions unless notified otherwise in writing.


2.1 To enter the free prize draw to win a trip to Japan and 2 tickets to the Rugby World Cup or one of the 10 Canon EOS M50 mirrorless cameras, click on ‘win tickets’, provide your name and email address following the URL for the country of your residence:

2.2 The free prize draw will be held at Canon that will be running from 5th February 2018 - 31st March 2019.

2.3 Only one entry per person is permitted

2.4 Entries received after the close date will not be eligible to be entered into this Free Prize Draw. Canon reserves the right to disqualify incomplete or illegible data capture cards.


3.1 1st Prize; Each winner will receive two tickets to Tickets to Match 45 (SF1: W QF1 v W QF2 ) on Sat 26 Oct @ 17:00 International Stadium Yokohama. The prize includes flights and hotel to stay in Japan for 5 days. No other food, travel, subsistence, accommodation or additional expenses are included in the prize. These must be borne by the winner and their guest.

3.2 2nd Prize; 10 runners up will get Canon EOD M50 mirrorless camera EF-M 15-45MM IS STM Lens. The Prize will be couriered to the winner[s] by April 2019.

3.3 The Prizes are non-transferable, and no cash or credit alternatives will be substituted for the prizes on offer. In the event if the prize offered is unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, Canon reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.


4.1 Using a random number generator, the winners will be selected from all eligible entries and the winner name confirmed by Canon.

4.2 Canon will publish the information on the winner on 20th April and then contact the winner via the email address submitted on the data capture form to obtain delivery details for the prize.

4.3 If Canon receives any rejected or unclaimed prize from the winner within 7 days of attempting to make contact by email, the original announced winner will forfeit their prize.

4.4 The Prize may be awarded to other entrants at the absolute and sole discretion of Canon.

4.5 The Prize will be couriered to the winner[s] by recorded delivery.

4.6 The Prize is as stated when published.

4.7 The Prize is provided to the winners of the Free Prize Draw in good faith by the Canon. If a winner is unable to accept the Prize for any reason, then Canon must be notified as soon as possible.


5.1 Canon Europa N.V., 59 Bovenkerkerweg, 1185 XB, the Netherlands, is the Data Controller in respect of any personal data supplied by Participants. The personal data provided is held securely and may be transferred on a secure server outside the EEA. The personal data collected from Participants is subject to the Canon Consumer Privacy Policy [insert the corresponding link in the local language: https://myid.canon/canonid/#/policy.

5.2 Canon may pass personal information relating to prize winners to RWCL, DENTSU and/or the Tournament Organiser (and any of their service providers or agents) for the purposes of monitoring the distribution and use of Rugby World Cup tickets and related experiences and, in the event of a suspected breach of any terms and conditions, rules or regulations of RWCL and/or the Tournament Organiser relating to the use of such tickets and/or experiences, investigating and taking action against such winners.

5.3 You will be contacted by Canon for the purposes of administrating the free prize draw or in the event that Canon wishes to discuss any other use of the information submitted to the free prize draw.

5.4 Canon reserves the right to publish the name and town of the winner or to publicise any prize giving presentation after the date of the free prize draw.


6.1 Ticket Terms and Conditions: Each winner and his/her guest(s) as applicable agree to comply with the terms and conditions applicable to the issue and use of tickets from time to time, which shall be subject to Japanese law, (as available and set out at [TBC]  or such other webpage as determined by Rugby World Cup Limited (“RWCL”) from time to time) and as applicable (i) RWCL, (ii) the tournament organiser (Japan Rugby Football Union “the Tournament Organiser”), and (iii) venue owner or operator’s rules and regulations relating to access to Rugby World Cup venues and any other areas associated with Rugby World Cup (including any Terms of Accreditation determined by RWCL), each of which may be subject to Japanese law. Further each winner and his/her guest(s) acknowledge that he/she may be required to enter into a direct acknowledgement and/or agreement with RWCL and/or the Tournament Organiser concerning use of the tickets and compliance with ticket terms and conditions prior to receiving the prize.

6.2 Negative Publicity: Winners and/or guests shall not, while using any Rugby World Cup tickets, display or publicize any political slogans or homophobic language, images of a lewd or explicitly sexual nature, images containing logos of competitors and overt brand sponsorship or anything else deemed to be ambush marketing or an abuse of the Rugby World Cup, content which is defamatory, obscene, illegal, vulgar, offensive or otherwise unsuitable or infringes others’ rights (including intellectual property rights) or reflects negatively upon any of RWCL or the Rugby World Cup. Each entrant agrees and acknowledges that any breach of this clause 10 shall cause significant damage and loss to RWCL.


7.1 Responsibility for Promotion: This promotion is run by Canon with the permission of RWCL and DENTSU. Accordingly the Promoter is responsible for the operation of and all matters and concerns relating to the promotion, not RWCL or any other persons involved in the staging of Rugby World Cup 2019 (including the Tournament Organiser) and World Rugby (formerly the International Rugby Board), all of whom shall not be responsible for or liable to entrants in any way whatsoever in connection with this promotion.

7.2 In exceptional circumstances, Canon may void the Prize and/or change other promotional conditions provided that such changes are necessary and can be justified by objective reasons.

7.3 Canon reserves the right to refuse to honour any entry or to recover the full value of any prize if it considers there has been an abuse or breach of the terms and conditions of this free prize draw.

7.4 Canon shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury of any nature howsoever caused, sustained by any participant under this promotion. However, nothing in these Terms shall have the effect of excluding or restricting Canon’s liability for personal injury or death caused by the proven negligence of its employees or contractors.

7.5 Interpretation or implementation of the rules on any matter related to the free prize draw, the decision of the Directors of Canon is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

7.6 If any part of these conditions is found by a court of competent jurisdiction or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, then such part shall be severed from the remainder of these conditions, which shall continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.


8.1 As you are a participating consumer, laws of your country of residence will apply to this competition, and You may be entitled to bring court proceedings in our own language and in your local courts. A local consumer advice organization will be able to advise you on your rights. These Terms do not restrict any statutory rights that may be applicable.
