Accessibility Statement for Canon Europe website as of October 2023

Canon’s commitment to accessibility

Canon Europe is committed to making our websites, apps and digital services as accessible as possible. Our aim is to combine compelling user experiences with high levels of accessibility and inclusivity, so everyone can use our digital services, whatever their abilities or disabilities. This is part of our dedication to seeing all people, regardless of culture, customs, language or race, living and working together for the common good – this is our corporate philosophy of kyosei, a deeply held belief which is at the heart of everything we do. Our ongoing site development, app development and content creation is guided by best-practice accessibility guidelines such as WCAG 2.1 and ISO 30071-1.

Adapt your experience to your needs

While this site has been created to be usable ‘as is’, some people are likely to get the most accessible experience by customising their computer to suit their individual needs – for example: to get the site spoken to them, to change its colour-scheme, or increase the size of its text.

If that sounds like it would be useful to you, we recommend you visit:

WAI’s Better Web Browsing: Tips for Customizing your Computer to read or watch videos of how these customisations (achieved by using accessibility features already on your computer, phone or tablet, or through installing assistive technologies) might suit you.

Improving accessibility on our site

Through an expert accessibility audit and user-testing of our site with people with disabilities, we are aware that there are accessibility improvements that our site could benefit from, and we have a plan in place to implement these. We are currently working to fix the following issues:

  • We are reviewing the alt-text on the site and correcting discrepancies.
  • We are working on providing audio-description for additional videos.
  • We are also reviewing the structure of some elements on our site, to ensure they are intuitive and logical when read by screen readers.
  • We are reviewing the colour of some links on our site, to make it easier to see when text is a link.
  • We are reviewing the text and background colours of some text and icons on our site, to ensure that they are easily readable, and ensuring that all text can be enlarged in browsers
  • We are working on improving the accessibility of the menus and cookie banner on our site.
  • We are working on improving the way some elements of our site work for keyboard-only users.
  • We are reviewing the coding of our pages to ensure words on them are pronounced well by screen readers.

If any of these current limitations prevent you from getting the information or service you need from our site, please contact us on accessibility@canon-europe.com and we will be happy to help you.

Please let us know if you have difficulties using this site

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of our site, so if you find anything on the site difficult to use please let us know at accessibility@canon-europe.com. To help us understand your difficulty quickly, it would help us if you provide the information advised in ‘Contacting Organisations about Inaccessible Websites’ in your request.

All constructive feedback regarding the accessibility or usability of our site is welcome and will be carefully considered.
