Canon recognised as 2026 Print Security leader for the sixth year running in new Quocirca Report

London, UK, 1st October 2026 – Canon Europe today announces that it has been recognised as a Leader in Quocirca’s prestigious 2026 Print Security Landscape report for the sixth-year running, an accolade which reflects Canon’s increased focus on enhanced security as a strategic priority for its customers.

Quocirca is a global market insight and research firm, which specialises in print, document management, workplace technology, and digital transformation. Its 2026 Print Security Landscape report analyses the views of IT decision makers across the US and Europe (France, Germany and UK), highlighting that despite heightened awareness of cybersecurity threats, print infrastructure remains a significant vulnerability for many organisations.  In fact, the report reveals that two-thirds (67%) of respondents have experienced at least one print-related data loss over the past year.

In its analysis, Quocirca recognises Canon as a leader in print security, noting its layered approach, which focuses on device hardening, identity-led access control, and workflow governance to reduce common operational risks.  The report also highlights Canon’s increased focus on AI-driven security optimisation as a notable market differentiator, referencing its use of machine learning within its imageFORCE range, to support security configuration set-up for its customers.

Canon's Secure by Design principle is also cited as a strength – this includes identity-led access controls, end-to-end lifecycle protection and the integration of security into every stage of product development, helping to safeguard devices before they reach customers.  This is complemented by Canon’s expanding software and cloud portfolio that takes secure print and capture beyond on-premises infrastructure, reflecting rising demand for hybrid working enablement.

Khalid Aziz, Marketing and Commercial Planning Director at Canon UK and Ireland comments: “As cyber threats continue to increase in both scale and sophistication, organisations need a trusted technology partner to help protect their print environment and strengthen operational resilience. Through our Secure by Design approach, we continue to advance print security innovation, evolving our portfolio of products and solutions to help safeguard our customers’ print infrastructure against emerging threats. We’re proud to be recognised once again as a Leader by Quocirca, an accolade that reflects our long-standing commitment to delivering secure technologies and supporting organisations in building a more resilient future”.

The report also highlights the following about Canon’s security leadership:

imageFORCE range: Canon uses machine learning to support the security of its customers within imageFORCE, its latest generation of office printers.  The range incorporates Security Environment Estimation Technology, a proprietary innovation, which uses machine learning to automatically recommend appropriate security settings, minimising risks for organisations.

uniFLOW Online and Cloud Connector: Canon’s flagship online print management platform allows customers to track documents and safeguard credentials across devices, documents and data, delivering advanced security based on Zero Trust principles. Fleet monitoring and remote management infrastructure also enforce security baselines, timely firmware updates and patching, and reduce configuration drift.

Focus on identity-led access control: Zero Trust principles, encryption and MFA-related support, including smart card options and directory integration, reduce walk-up risk and support secure release and identity-led access to print and scan functions on-premises and in distributed workplaces.

End-to-end lifecycle protection: Canon offers device security services to protect print infrastructure throughout the device lifecycle, including secure in-use controls, and end-of-life data sanitisation and decommissioning. Plus, partnerships around penetration testing, security assurance and automated patching capabilities provide further confidence for customers.

Operational security foundations. Layered controls and operational visibility through monitoring and reporting address platform integrity, confidentiality and policy enforcement. At the device level, Syslog-based SIEM integration and a defined CSIRT and PSIRT structure support operational alignment with wider security programmes and vulnerability response expectations. On some devices, Trellix Embedded Control also offers an additional embedded layer to support malware threat prevention.
