Canon reaches wide format milestone with 10,000 Océ CrystalPoint engines installed worldwide
London, 15 December, 2017 – Canon, leader in imaging solutions, is proud to announce that its Océ CrystalPoint technology has reached an important milestone as 10,000 Océ ColorWave engines powered with this technology have been installed worldwide.
Powered by Océ CrystalPoint technology, the Océ ColorWave 700 is designed for CAD/GIS and graphic arts applications, offering high quality prints
In 2008, the introduction of Océ CrystalPoint technology marked the launch of the Océ ColorWave portfolio, a family of versatile and productive wide format color printers. With Océ CrystalPoint technology, customers benefit from the best attributes of both inkjet and toner including crisp, high-quality, waterproof color and black & white prints, even on economical uncoated media and recycled paper. It is ideal for a wide range of applications including CAD plots, maps and posters. The robust, instant dry prints are perfectly suitable for short-term outdoor use.
The third wave
The Océ ColorWave 500 and 700 are the third generation Océ CrystalPoint based printers. They are designed to enable a wide range of high quality applications, supporting print service providers, in-house or remote work-groups and central print rooms. The Océ ColorWave 500 is designed to support CAD, maps and production applications in the manufacturing, architecture, construction, design and reprographics industries. The Océ ColorWave 700 caters for businesses requiring a higher print volume, including reprographics, sign and display print providers, and in-house printing applications in industries such as retail, hospitality, POS, education and government. Both printers feature cloud integration, multiple user support, secure workflow, an optional built-in scanner and a range of integrated output options. The multi-roll setup of the Océ ColorWave 500 and 700 enables them to handle many different jobs without having to load and unload rolls in-between. The convenient Océ ClearConnect software suite makes it easy for customers to get documents where they need them, when they need them.
How does Océ CrystalPoint work?
Utilising well-known Océ TonerPearls, Océ CrystalPoint technology works on the principle of Solid In - Solid Out, for a clean system and no risk of air pollution. Océ TonerPearls come in see-through cartridges, so you can always see the remaining toner level per colour in the system. Once the Océ TonerPearls are fed into the system, they are heated into a gel. This gel is then jetted onto the media by the Imaging Devices. The gel droplets are positioned with extreme precision and keep their shape even on recycled paper. This ensures crisp print quality with no feathering.
Today, a year before its 10th anniversary, Océ CrystalPoint technology is at the core of the newest Océ ColorWave products. 10,000 Océ CrystalPoint based print engines have been installed, serving a multitude of satisfied users worldwide.
Duncan Smith, Director of Industrial and Production Solutions at Canon UK, comments: “Océ CrystalPoint technology was designed to support our customers in delivering an exceptional range of creative applications. It’s great to see the huge success that the ColorWave printer series has had over the last ten years, helping customers to expand their application capabilities even further. By developing a single printer that can produce a high volume of colour jobs without compromising on quality and with instant-dry prints, customers can benefit from printed output that can be used immediately.”
